Šťastná Kateřina

Kateřina Šťastná (*1996) studied first photography and then sculpture at the Brno University of Technology. She completed her master's degree in the sculpture studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. During her studies she took part in residencies in Milan and Tallinn and in a ceramics symposium in Barcelona. Her work explores the relationship between the body, air and the surrounding environment: air filling the body and air flowing out of the body into its surroundings. It seems an ordinary thing, one we barely notice, yet it is among the most important things our bodies — and we ourselves — do. In her work, the matter of air and body takes the form of embroidered pictures, plaster sculptures and marble reliefs. She has exhibited in the Czech Republic and abroad. In Košice you can see her bronze sculpture realised for public space. She has taken part in exhibitions including Nuance vzduchu at Curator Contemporary Gallery in Prague and Pomezí identity at Galerie Stará radnice in Vsetín.
