Pouchová Lucie

Lucie Pouchová (*1981) first studied social work at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. She has spent almost twenty years in social services, and it is precisely this experience that inspires her artistic practice. It also led her to apply to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studies in the painting studio of Marek Meduna and Petr Dub. Her professional and personal experience as a social worker gives her the subjects of her work. She concentrates above all on figurative painting, in which she explores the theme of solitude. She is equally interested in how we relate to one another, and has long returned to the subject of people living in seclusion with their pets. She also incorporates elements and techniques drawn from so-called low culture. Her main emphasis is on colour, which often stands in tension with the melancholy content depicted. Her work has been shown at Bold Gallery, Galerie Postoj and Galerie Pekelné sáně, where she also held an artist residency in 2025.
